WELCOME SEPTEMBER

It's the start of Organic September, but what does that really mean? Here we explain why Organic really is better and why you should look for Organic options for your diet as well as your skincare routine.

WHAT DOES ORGANIC MEAN?

Organic is the name given to a product that is made without fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Organic September is an annual event organised by The Soil Association Certification and The Organic Trade Board to build awareness of organic produce.

HOW IS ORGANIC BETTER FOR ME?

Organic farms use virtually no fertilizers which means the crops are of better quality, rich in beneficial nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants; these nutrients are lacking in non-organic products. This is not only good for creating a better diet but also when you consider your skincare routine as what you put on your skin really does have an important role in the maintenance of your body as a whole.

IS ORGANIC BETTER FOR ANIMALS?

Simply put, YES, organic is better for animals. Not only for the animals on organic farms who get to enjoy a truly free-range existence but also for wildlife. Organic farms are under strict conditions, one of which is that free-range animals truly are free-range, with plenty of space, air, and raised in conditions that suit their natural behaviors. Animals are kept in smaller flocks and herds so they are able to roam more freely.

Wildlife is also enriched on organic farms, with an estimated 50% abundance on organic farms in comparison to others. Organic farms encourage birds, beetles, and insects to manage pest control and as a result, provide homes for bees and butterflies.

BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Organic farming avoids synthetic fertilizers, uses fewer emissions, improves soil fertility, and water quality. Enhanced health of soils, water, and air quality creates a cycle of good for our environment. Using organic skincare also means that there are fewer toxins and chemicals going down the drain after your skincare routine.

ORGANIC SKINCARE

For all the reasons above, organic skincare is ultimately a better option for your skin and for your environment. The use of natural ingredients, free from harsh chemicals also means that products are less likely to cause skin irritation through allergens.

Organic skincare also uses natural, active ingredients that are enriched with nutrients that would be missing in synthetic products.
